Ian McLane

Born in Scunthorpe in 1965 Ian has spent a lifetime in and around the entertainment industry.

First port of call from the maternity wing was to the Ashby constitutional working mens club where Ian's grandfather, also a performer and Charlie Chaplin impersonator, was steward.  Father Percy was a well known drummer playing in many local bands and duo's back in the 1960's so Ian was no stranger to music industry.

Growing up Ian displayed a talent for music and is an accomplished musician and can command many instruments.  During his early years Ian performed Locally playing the electric Organ with his father and also became an active member of the award winning Riddings Scout Marching Band which saw performances at such places as Wembley Stadium.  This love of music led to the obvious career choice of becoming a performer and entertainer.

Starting out in the late 1970's Ian began entertaining audiences working as a mobile and resident DJ.  This led to working with some of the industries big names such as the late John Peel.  later moving on to his first love of real music Ian began his club / pub entertainer career as a keyboard vocalist, appearing up and down the UK in holiday venues and working men's clubs.  This led to working as support to many well known acts of the day such as the Krankies, Joe Pasquale, Showaddywaddy, The Searchers, The Boomtown Rats, Joe Longthorne, The Pogues and the Nolans.

Performing also as a compere Ian soon realised that working from behind a keyboard was too restrictive and did not allow the amount of audience interaction he sought.  So in 1992 Ian launched his new show as a comedy vocalist performer.  Also at that time Ian trained and qualified as a hypnotist and launched his comedy hypnosis show.

1995 saw big changes when Ian decided to move and work in Gran Canaria having spent many exploratory holiday trips working abroad.  Gran Canaria saw Ian perform as Hypnotist, Comedy Vocalist and Holiday Host / Compere working in many hotels and bars on the sunny island, entertaining approximately 250,000 people a year.

Returning to the UK in 1997 Ian continued to work the Pub / Club scene with his now highly acclaimed Comedy Vocalist show and Hypnosis show until 1999 when on new years eve Ian hung up his clown suit and retired.

All that was to change in 2005 when, after many threats to return to the stage Ian finally picked up the phone and called his agent.  Since that time the show has taken on new characters and continues to wow crowds throughout the Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire regions.

Both shows are fully self contained and have 2 million pounds of public liability cover.  Ian is available to book through Link Entertainments Agency.  They can be contacted on (01977) 798866 or via link.acts@virgin.net
